Since novelty is subjective, intelligence has to maximise novelty primarily and MAXIMISE being the key word. Randomness (which creates all life forms and intelligence) and LLMs may create novel things sometimes by chance but do not maximise it.
The diff bet narrow n general intelligence could only be like one particular/specific focus vs broad/multi-modal focus. This warrants that do not call processes THAT DO NOT CREATE NOVELTY PRIMARILY as intelligence - for eg. Calculators,computers, Transformers, backpropogation etc
A system which is a little bit more efficient in creating new knowledge with real world impact than a monkey-typewriter/random process is an AGI or I guess more of an AGI. I guess monkey-typewriter process is also an AGI, just not a very good one.
