Yesterday the Atlantic Salmon was officially classified as Endangered in the UK. So if nothing changes the species will go extinct, for the Dee this means losing one of its iconic species. Here's a thread about what needs to change to save this species:

One of the most interesting challenges of locating #fishweirs is the fact that unless they are in use or have been recently, they are times completely invisible to a ground level observation. Unless you're already know what, you're looking for! 1/4

As it's spooky season, let's explore some haunted castles in Dublin... 👻 Drimnagh Castle was built approx.1216 by Sir Hugh de Bernival. It is the only remaining castle in Ireland with a flooded Norman moat. The reputedly haunted location boasts a 15th Century great hall & tower

Lough Neagh, Ireland's largest lake, has been turned into one big sewer of primarily agricultural (and some human) run-off. Something that already unites our island: treating the natural environment like, and with enormous quantities of literal, shite.

Out of 240 nations on Earth, Ireland ranks a catastrophic 13th from the bottom in how nature is doing. My piece in today's @IrishTimes on why our need for the Nature Restoration Law could not be greater, and any MEPs who vote it down will be betraying us all, including farmers.

Leopardstown is a curious name for a town in a country without leopards, but a closer look reveals an even more fascinating and gruesome reason for the title. As Gaeilge Leopardstown translates to Baile na Lobhar, meaning the 'town of the lepers'.

Once, most of Ireland would have been something like this, now there's almost nothing left. We have lost **so** much. Let's allow our great forests to come back - for nature, for the climate, for ourselves.
