After a long semester, I was recently awarded the "Students' Choice Most Valuable Faculty" award and the "Philip Merrill Mentor Award." As a first-gen student, it's an honor to be on the giving side of impactful mentorship. Never stop investing in our future scientists!

Due to typos, I'm starting a new field of research called casual inference. "Sure, I guess X causes Y" It relies on probably instead of probability.

Slightly delayed, but I recently got back from RMMA hosted by @HaskayneCCRAM. It was a great event filled with expert researchers and teachers, and a nice trip to Banff to boot. 10/10 do recommend. I also summited a mountain with Tim Hortons. It was the most Candian thing ever.

Tomorrow I head to Canada to visit the Rocky Mountain Methodology Academy, geek out with other stats nerds, present on how to improve our quantitative pedagogy (& why that matters), and be a tourist. If you don't know about the RMMA, read more here: haskayne.ucalgary.ca/CCRAM/academy

I’ve always said that I know that a manuscript is ready to submit for publication when it “sings.” It’s not just varied sentence structure that makes a paper sing— it needs to go through a number of other stages first. 🧵

I recently got the news that a paper I've been working on since my *undergraduate program* has been accepted for publication! Between two journals, it sat in peer review for nearly 2.5(!) years. A quirk of science is that some papers are quite dated by the time you read them.

Interested in learning about the varied career trajectories in Quant? Next week, tune in to hear about my most recent job search and experiences from many other quantitative experts and professionals!

Going to APS next week? Come hang out NEXT THURSDAY and learn about Mediation, Moderation, & the combination thereof. We R going to have fun despite my SAS, so SPSS your way over there. (I ran out of stats puns but bring a laptop with one of those on it.) psychologicalscience.org/conventions/20…

A week ago I officially graduated from OSU. I am thrilled to be done and finally start my career. In autumn, I will join @UofMaryland as a Lecturer of Social Data Science (& Psych). I am beyond excited to continue my research and teach the next generation of data nerds!

I'm honored/floored to be a recipient of a Graduate Associate Teaching Award (GATA)! This is OSU's highest teaching honor for graduate students, and I have the exceptional PSYCH 1100 teaching community, my students, and @mjbeers1 to thank. gradsch.osu.edu/news/2023-grad…

I'm excited to be giving a workshop for APS this year on Mediation, Moderation, and Conditional Process Analysis (with the PROCESS macro). Come hang out for a few hours on Thursday, 25 May from 1:30-4:20 PM! #aps #DC #mediation #moderation #processmacro

Enhance your skill set and master a new technique at APS 2023! Workshops offered at APS 2023 are in-depth, hands-on educational sessions. #aps23dc psychologicalscience.org/conventions/20…

Dissertation...DONE! I have successfully defended my final milestone in graduate school and it feels surreal. I am grateful for the support from my family, friends, colleagues, mentors, teachers, and others who have invested in me. I am more excited than ever for what's to come!

Academic friends: My dissertation defense is in less than five(!!) full days! What did you do in the days leading up to your defense? What do you wish you did?

Some of my thesis is now live at Behavior Research Methods! Take a read if you want to know how (and why) you should compare indirect effects. Another great paper with @AndrewFHayes—I'm happy to see it in the wild. DM if you don't have access: doi.org/10.3758/s13428… #psynomBRM

Yesterday I received an award for winning first place at my department's Graduate Research Forum. Moments like these are encouraging as I continue to write my dissertation proposal... It isn't easy, but I look forward to the future as I enter my final(!) summer as a grad student.

I'm privileged to have won 3rd place in the Social and Behavioral Sciences at the Edward F. Hayes Graduate Research Forum! (Statistics don't need to be scary.) Congratulations to all the presenters!

Today I passed my candidacy exam! Only two years to go until I graduate and move on to the next stage in my life. Until then, there's a lot of work to do. Wishing everyone a strong end to their semester and start to their summer!

Never underestimate the feeling of being a mediation scholar and finding "0 results" when you use CTRL+F to look for "meditation" or "casual" in your document before submitting it

This morning I officially passed my thesis defense! One of many milestones to come in graduate school. As my last official OSU business with @AndrewFHayes wraps up, I look forward to and am excited about the future. Time to start prepping the manuscript...

Excited to announce my blog for the @NobaProject is live! Accessibility is important now more than ever with content being online. I write about my thoughts on accessibility and things you may want to consider in the classroom. Read it here: noba.to/g8arm2ed
