"One has to take one's starting point from nature." Meet Michael Duveen, the farmer at Jacob's Ladder Farms. Michael explains his motivation for farming regeneratively and how our approach is centred on respect for the land and livestock we care for.
Bubbles and Squeek have had their first litter. 17 little squeekers between them. All huddling together to keep warm in this cold snap.
We're thrilled to be popping up @hopyardbrewingco this Friday and Saturday between 6pm to 10pm. Come and say hi and grab a beer and a burger! 🍔🍺
Fairytale views of Good Vibrations Society last night ✨
So much amazing food at this festival you're going to be spoilt for choice! 🤤
We're so excited to be back at the wonderful @goodvibrationssociety for a second year! We'll be cooking up delicious grass fed Sussex burgers all weekend and listening to a lineup of brilliant musicians. 🍔🎶🎷🎪✨
We've spent the last three days cooking up burgers on the green for the Forest Row Festival 🌳 @frfestival It has been amazing and such a joy to see so many familiar faces! Thank you to all the organisers and volunteers for making it happen!
Another chance to have our delicious burgers 🍔 We are catering at the West Hoathly disco on the green tomorrow evening (Friday 3rd June) and it's free entry! Then we'll be at the West Hoathly Street Fair the following day on Saturday, 12pm until 4pm. 🎉
Lambs finding their mums before settling down for the evening.
Wallowing is a social activity for pigs, and provides comfort, interaction, and amusement as they're very playful animals. It's essential for their mental health.
Over the Easter weekend we introduced Bubble and Squeak, our Oxford Sandy and Black pigs, to wallowing. Wallowing is a really important behaviour for pigs, and we have lots of suitable habitat on the farm to ensure they have access to this enriching activity.
Michael Duveen and James Waley - top hedge laying duo! Both passionate about trees and nature, and both dedicated to making the world a better place.
Our farm, Colin Godman's, is one of the small-scale Wealden farms that contributes to the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We belong to an area of ancient countryside that is one of the best surviving medieval landscapes in Northern Europe.
Sun and sparkles on the lake over the spring equinox weekend. Pure joy.
Sound on 🔊 We're lucky to have so many pockets of woodland at the farm and they're all starting to green up and burst into leaf. The birds are clearly enjoying the longer sunny days too!
Spring's wood anemones and primroses are bursting through Autumn's leaves all over the farm. The days are longer, warmer, and soon the air will be filled with the bleating of lambs.
Recently we hosted a soil mentoring group at our farm, organised and funded by the @highwealdaonb It was attended by a group of local Sussex farmers and we shared ideas on building farm resilience and how we value the soil beneath our feet.
Investigating our soil during a recent visit from the wonderful Edmund Sutcliffe. Our ground cover needs more work but our earthworm levels are excellent!
Rafi, our sheep dog, had a long day yesterday battling high winds and stormy weather to help us move sheep. Though he's pretty happy for it!
