there is a real joy to cinemagoing in certain parts of europe—dirt-cheap tickets, no ads, classics & cycles regularly shown, gorgeous old publicly-funded cinemas—that is so hard to find in the uk. i like the bfi but even it feels corporate compared to stuff like this.
