Please someone make general purpose precompiled rubies. I can help, but I’ve got too many obligations to drive the grunt work. You’d solve one of the biggest problems for broader ruby adoption and help the entire ecosystem.

Mise by @jdxcode is so awesome that @dhh made it the default recommendation to install Ruby in Rails projects

PHP needs to get onboard the mise train. This is how easy it is to use a different Ruby with mise: mise use [email protected]. Now you're running 3.4.5 in the current project. Couldn't be simpler. mise.jdx.dev

defaulting to uv over pip/pipx in mise was probably not the obvious choice at the time but I'm feeling like I bet on the right horse. I'm hoping in 2026 pip will start to be seen as the alternative to uv.

The sweet spot for Docker in development is to let it run your accessories, like database, Redis, ElasticSearch, but stick to native installations of Ruby/JavaScript/whatever using mise. No "works on my machine" version drift, little fuss, great performance 👌

`mise run` and `mise use` selectors have improved quite a bit in recent mise releases

quiz: what should this output? (I believe there is a right and wrong answer) echo "export FOO=file" > .env FOO=inline mise run echo I just found out with just and Taskfile (and perhaps others) you get a different result than mise.

One of the fun things about starting omakub has been learning about all the tool developments that have happened recently. Like mise! A replacement for rbenv/nodenv, which also does go/python/erlang. Love it! Thanks @jdxcode! github.com/basecamp/omaku…
