“An upstream approach should be the way we do business. It is the road to #equity,” says @TJamesMD, speaking about BMC's partnership with @YearUp, which has created pathways to economic mobility for thousands of low-income adults. @GChert @YearUpBoston bit.ly/3a7YfdC

My favorite spot from residency @The_BMC after a rough day, unexpected outcome, or difficult encounter. Important to have a place to take a personal moment, particularly now.
Since it seems like all the EMLitofNote is also #COVID19 Lit of Note, here's just a brief thread touching on some of the most talked about articles from the last couple days:
I have two small kids & don’t live near family. If I lived in a place where there were caucuses I’d have to pay someone to watch my kids so I could go vote bc voting only happens at a specific time. I’d basically have to pay to vote. It’s ridiculous & inherently exclusionary.
So proud to be part of @BostonCityEM where folks show up for diversity. Program director @jserdoc, department chair, VP @TJamesMD, head of GME @J_SchneiderMD and 60 of the next generation. Diversity requires inclusion, justice, equity and community.
Important commentary on our increasing hallway dilemma - How do we provide quality care in these unequal treatment spaces? What is the impact on patient and provider experience? Time to focus on this and not exclusively LWBS. @AcademicEmerMed #healthcareQuality
Couldn’t agree more: People are meant to move. Immobilization to a hospital bed has risks. We should reconsider our hospital spaces to promote patient mobility.
"of the many things I hated in the hospital, that [dvt prophylaxis shot] was high on the list. No one even offered the option to walk a few times a day." - a doctor I know after a brief hospitalization

Health Equity Rounds - An important initiative to address bias in medicine, and one that should be nationwide. Can we incorporate programs like this at all hospitals? YES. Always proud to have trained @The_BMC @BostonCityEM
A grassroots, resident-led series of case conferences (Health Equity Rounds) addresses #implicitbias and structural #racism in #MedEd & clinical practice. #HealthCity sat down with @destinygt12 & @yuanheMD to learn more: bit.ly/2WF9SAC cc @AmerAcadPeds @BostonChildrens

I do not accept that healthcare should be a privilege that’s reserved only to some. It has to be a guarantee and a fundamental human right to everyone. p.ppfa.org/2UVO56T
This is a perfect example of organizational change to support physician wellness (and help prevent moral injury). Great initiative @J_SchneiderMD and @The_BMC
Went live with a new initiative today, offering PCP appts for all new #interns as part of their hospital #orientation in June. Hoping to send the message that trainees’ health is an important part of what we do @The_BMC. #wellness #GME
