keenly watching the dainty breaths of my baby daughter. the hope and promise of her next breath is my tether to being. a reminder that some things are outside of our control.

Maybe I'm weird, but I want more meetings and discussions where there are lulls of 10+ seconds of silence when everyone is just thinking and considering.

Talking [in meetings, groups, etc.] is taking a global lock on the environment. Some people are too eager to take that lock, ignoring the opportunity cost, and inefficiently hold the lock. I'm very skeptical of advice that boils down to "contribute to more global contention."

the biggest cheat code i learned from top founders: action produces information stuck on what to do? do literally anything not sure what to do? just pick a direction and go just do sth. it will change ur life

Pushing an item to the bucket list: Christmas concert from the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. BYU also maybe.

Storytelling might be THE most important founder skill. You need to convince - Co-founders to come with you on the journey - Investors to believe in the vision - Customers to give your janky product a shot - And potential hires to take a pay cut to work for you

Are you OK, Gemini? I mean, I agree with you… but I’m pretty sure you’re effectively hosted on… y’know… 😅 (don’t @ me with the borg nit) Based.

Something I think people continue to have poor intuition for: The space of intelligences is large and animal intelligence (the only kind we've ever known) is only a single point, arising from a very specific kind of optimization that is fundamentally distinct from that of our…

A major cheat code in life: The ability to reset fast. You're allowed to start over at 10am, 2pm, or 6:30 at night. Zero reason to let one bad hour carry into the rest of your day. You can’t control what hits you. But you can control how long you sit in it.

Listen. If you think you should type no code yourself and let the AI do everything, you're doing it wrong. If you think you should type all the code and never ask AI to do anything, you're doing it wrong.

I know I made a joke earlier but this is seriously concerning. I am not convinced it's ai, I think it's just accelerating this trend. The enshitification has been marching forward for years now and I hate it I know the rage is all about how you should do no typing, you should…

Quality compounds with itself and compounds into velocity.

I put my slack window and the LLM chat session window together on one i3 workspace. I like to keep all the slop in one place. Keep it from spreading and making a mess.

Memory safety vulnerabilities per 1 million lines of code: Rust: 0.2 C/C++: 1000

Rust in Android "a 1000x reduction in memory safety vulnerability density compared to Android’s C and C++ code. But the biggest surprise… having a 4x lower rollback rate and spending 25% less time in code review, the safer path is now also the faster one" security.googleblog.com/2025/11/rust-i…

Capitalism Sucks; Everything else is Worse.

Inspired by @axiosopher’s excellent title “Nix Sucks; Everything else is Worse”. We need to start a “Everything else is Worse” series. Rust, monorepos, and so on.
