Banning knives will not solve the issue of youth violence. There are a growing number of guns in our cities! The only answer is the development of more caring & supportive communities, investment in children’s, youth & families work, & a far more inclusive approach to education!

Poor school attendance is a symptom of the real issue, not the cause. Instead of investment, this govt has pushed a brutal one size fits all system packed with testing, pressure & excessive rules, which means many schools just can't offer children the bespoke support they need.

Joanne Hackney reposted

School attendance has never returned to pre-pandemic levels. So govt says parents of children who are missing without permission are set to face even bigger fines. But it won’t work! Why? Because families need support rather than penalties, and the fines in place now don’t work!!

“Halving knife crime will not be achieved by banning knives. You can kill someone with a knitting needle or a screwdriver. You’ve got to deal with the anger, the rage, the angst, the trauma inside the person.” Read my interview for the @guardian here👇🏼 theguardian.com/uk-news/2024/j…

It's a grim prediction, but by the end of 2022 it's estimated 39 million people in 15 million households, an unprecedented 54% of the entire UK population, will be under threat of fuel & food poverty. However, unlike the Covid pandemic, we STILL have time to prepare for this one.

What a fantastic 5 weeks on the @ACT2improve #QSIR course. I would highly recommend it to my NHS colleagues. A big thanks to the facilitators and to @jowoodybutler and @becky_amy7393 who have been such great comrades!

NUH patients have been interviewed to find out the benefits to them of having a video consultation where clinically appropriate. What can we do to help more of our patients have convenient access to our clinical care? @nuhpatientgroup @ACD_NUH

In Part 2 of our brand new series, we asked real patients from @nottmhospitals what they thought the benefits were of having a DrDoctor Video Consultation with their clinician, compared to an in person one. It turns out they were all in complete agreement!

No society can legitimately call itself civilised if its everyday policies disregard the vulnerable and disadvantaged - even if it does finally get itself all hot and bothered about the injustice of a European Super League!
