Three lads who were brilliant all summer had the courage to step up & take a pen when the stakes were high. They deserve support & backing not the vile racist abuse they’ve had since last night. If you abuse anyone on social media you’re not an @England fan and we don’t want you.

To my friends outside Ireland, this is how things are done here. A broadcaster, just recovered from Covid19, opens the biggest tv show in the country with a calm, reassuring but very honest account of where we’re at.

“I want to thank them publicly from the bottom of my heart because they're a remarkable group of people.” After being away from our screens for the past two weeks, Ryan opened the #LateLate thanking our frontline staff for their service.

Record-breakers: the most consecutive league games for city

Anthea Bell was a true genius. Her translations of Asterix were works of magic and a huge influence on me growing up. Wit and elegance and cleverness worn light as gossamer in every panel. I went to worship her one year at Edinburgh Book Festival. This is the passing of a hero.

Anthea Bell OBE, Order of Merit of 🇩🇪, died this morning aged 82. She was a literary giant: among great C20th/C21st translators, whose work included Kafka, Sebald, Zweig, Freud, Willy Brandt, Simenon, Goscinny et al. @richkamm & I will miss our mother a lot. Cc @GermanEmbassy
