An electrical grid needs a baseload. That's the electrical generation that's available 24/7/365 on short notice. Right now NB has Lepreau, Mactaquac, Coleson Cove, and Belledune to anchor down the grid. Variable renewables (solar, wind, etc) cannot replace those stations.
