Dan Abramov dropped a new Overreacted post and it's a banger. It dives deep into the idea of RSC and explains why it might be a good idea.
wow. RSCs are composable BFFs per-page. 🤯 @.dan_abramov* may dealt a deathblow to REST. overreacted.io/jsx-over-the-w… not an AI post (yay) but those who are out of the loop on the evolution of React as now a server framework over the last 5 years should read. It's not even really a…
I think it's wild that developers see an insanely good abstraction that provides this level of composition as bad because they see white space
shadcnfreude The pleasure of seeing someone using the wrong component library.
I had a blast again in Wrocław. @reactuniverse_ was awesome as always. I enjoyed meeting old friends from past editions and making new friends from all over the world. The talks were awesome, and it’s always wonderful how approachable all the speakers are
11, many as a child in the 90s with stuff inherited from my much older brothers. But why is using a record player a sign of being old? I got mine a few years ago and got my newest record a few days ago as a birthday present... Metal just sounds better from vinyl than from MP3!
I just wrote up an article on what tools Flipper provides to React Native developers and how you can replace each of them! Retweets appreciated a ton.
Preach!
Stop joining Zoom calls from conference rooms. Every attendee should have their own screen, their own webcam, and their own microphone. There's no reason to have a camera across the room while you look toward each other and not at the camera, words echoing badly.
I'm old enough to remember "Photoshop could never be a web app"

Current status: in a bus on the taxiway to board my plane to @react_native_eu. Just booked a new hotel after the old accommodation cancelled last minute. Current mood: very happy about modern technology
takeaway: never bet on any tech by google if a more popular alternative exists
Aside from the title, this post is worth a read.
“So why is Next.js so pushy about [React Server Components]? I can't avoid feeling that the new direction taken by Next.js is not designed to help developers, but to help Vercel sell React.” marmelab.com/blog/2023/06/0…

Is React Having An Angular.js Moment?
React Server Components, while innovative, risk causing division in the React community due to their potential to undermine Single-Page App architecture.
The web is not a zero-sum game. I dislike the narrative that frameworks will either win or lose, and that you need to "place a bet." Indeed, it is easy to fall into this mindset if everything is VC-backed, but not everything is, nor does it have to be.
Web developers do not appreciate this enough. React works well for many platforms, unlike others. My favorite underrated fancy use-case: use React-Three-Fiber in @Remotion videos 👌
The existence of react native makes react.js one of the most useful skills to learn Crazy that 70% of your knowledge from learning to make websites can carry over to building iOS AND android apps
