After 14 months “acting” in the role of Assistant and Deputy, and an intense interview day on Monday, I’m pleased to say that I secured the job permanently- Deputy Headteacher 💚
Earlier today, my OH attended a work call despite being on annual leave this week. I thought, why would you do that, it’s your time off?! Then I realised, I’ve done that for the past 8 years. Any way, back to work tomorrow, having not opened my laptop once this half-term 😊

5,031 words in 3 days- I’ll call that a win. Just wrapped up the ethics section for my small-scale study into the lived experiences of primary headteachers.
Settling in for an evening of doctoral work. My working hypothesis: three screens will lead to three times the productivity. Let’s see how the data turns out!

On campus today and tomorrow at @UniofHerts for lectures and seminars to officially start the second year of the EdD- wrapping up this whirlwind 🌪️ of a week.
A full day of DHTing (which really ought to be a verb), teaching, leading twilight CPD and squeezing in an hour of uni work at the @UniofHerts . Survived the hour-long M1 commute- made it home just in time for Bake Off.

Back on campus at @UniofHerts after work tonight. Time to reset and get back into routine for the second year of the doctorate.
It’s my second year out of the classroom, and the nerves feel different to those I felt as a class teacher. I don’t have a class of 30 who I can directly influence, instead I’m trusting the team to carry out their roles so our 300 children have the best start to the school year.

Enjoying the return of #EducatingYorkshire on @Channel4. I’ve always hoped they’d do a series based in a primary school- we have so much to showcase. On another note, as a deaf person, I really want an ear piece like Mr Wilson- I’m forever missing messages on the walkie talkie!
