Covering MD services for the uninsured cost @ongov ~$15M over 3 yrs for 400,000 services. A level 3 (highest) ICU bed cost the gov't $800K/y. Funding primary/preventative care for the uninsured (many qualify for OHIP anyway) will prevent ICU admissions/death and save >$5M/yr.
There are no programs that provide health insurance to my patients in the ICU on ventilators who do not have an OHIP card for no other reason other than their social circumstances, mental illness, lack of family support and/or disability. Remove barriers to getting a healthcard.

The @ongov expanding the use of private clinics to deliver publicly funded care. Given the power/knowledge imbalance between patient & practitioner, the gov't needs to protect patients from being upsold services they don't need.
She was upsold thousands of dollars in extra services at a private for-profit clinic, and when she started to ask questions, the doctor asked her to leave.
