I'm proud to be British, but I'm also proud to be English. We shouldn't be afraid to talk, and teach children, about all of the wonderful things that England has given the world. No shame, no guilt, no fear - let's be unapologetically patriotic.

There’s a class of software called “reasoners” whose input is facts (in a normalised form such as triples/ontologies/semantic graphs). Output is a deduction or inference (new fact not present in input). GPT3.5 seems to do this reasonably well (1/2)

The unexpected challenge in such an endeavour would be constant discovery of new knowledge as one attempts to document what’s known. Amusing paradox. (Aside from unknowledge, misinformation, false information etc).

Engineering is about balance and tradeoffs

“Duplicated code is often better than wrong abstraction.” “Excessive copy/paste bloats the code, hurts consistency, slows reading, increases bug risks, and makes it harder to scale.” Both are true. So, avoid copy/paste. But also avoid premature abstractions. It’s a balance.

I’ve been reluctant to try ChatGPT. Today I got over that reluctance. Now I understand why I was reluctant. The value of 90% of my skills just dropped to $0. The leverage for the remaining 10% went up 1000x. I need to recalibrate.
