INBOX: @DA_LarryKrasner responds to @realdonaldtrump and his allegations of election cheating in Philadelphia.
There is absolutely no truth to this allegation. It is yet another example of disinformation. Voting in Philadelphia has been safe and secure.
From colleague @holmeslybrand: The Philadelphia Police Department told CNN they were not aware what Trump was referring to and did not know of any issues with voting that required a law enforcement response.
Back at @pittie, giving a guest lecture on my Red Cross work at the Data for Social Good class
One of the satisfying aspects of being a volunteer with @RedCross is the opportunity to contribute in a professional capacity. So today I got a call to help apply a planning model that I had a hand in developing as part of the Hurricane Idalia response. #informs #DataScience
Welcome back Pitt students! Glad to be a part of welcome week at #hail2pitt by presenting Hands Only CPR for @redcrossgpa have a great week. #cpr #cprtraining
I randomly came across #JuliaLang #juliacon while with my kids. I geeked out because I am a past contributor to #juliajump. Enjoyed talking to con staff and exhibitiors, especially those who were helping to convince my kids that math is fun.
A 10-year-girl in Delaware picked up “It’s Perfectly Normal” while at the library with her mother. When they came home, she showed her mom the chapter on sexual abuse and said, “This is me.” She was being abused by her father, and it was the first time she’d spoken about it.
When I was a professor, every year I used the Pittsburgh Lenten fish-fry map as a discussion example on how to design a data analysis fit for purpose. triblive.com/news/pittsburg…

This was for the project Efficacy of Masks in Preventing the Spread of Covid-19, and was chosen out of all middle school entrees across all categories at the recent Pittsburgh Regional Science and Engineering Fair.
In addition to being a proud dad, 2 items of note. 1) this involved properly interpreting a regression table and ANOVA table 2) the selection was really for science communication, which is important @mmstigerpride

For this study to be successful, we need more gay/bi male participants ages 18-39 years old in 8 U.S. cities to join before September. If you're compelled to help, sign up at ADVANCEStudy.org. (3/3)
A former student reminded me that a year ago I assigned an article on JHU sharing COVID-19 spread data for class discussion.
Used this article on 2019-nCoV spread as a basis of discussion in @Pitt_IE data analysis class.
A post academic moment. After a shuffling of teams, I now have a teammate who was a former student of mine.
