SHOW US A PLAN TO VACCINATE TEACHERS! The current “fend for yourselves” approach is NOT working.

Are you serious, Governor? Speaking about teacher vaccines after instigating school openings without a plan to vaccinate teachers. SHOW US A PLAN TO VACCINATE TEACHERS AND SCHOOL STAFF! Your plan can include ALL teachers, too. Then, you can pander to the “school choice” crew.

A5: You don’t need to grade everything! Feedback is more important than grading. #OpenUpMath

I try to spread the points so an equal amount of points is on each topic on a test. It’s never perfect, especially with multiple choice and multi-part questions. But I think that’s ok! #OpenUpMath

A3: still trying to fine tune my retake process. Giving students time to reflect, practice, and reassess is such a worthwhile tool when used correctly #OpenUpMath

A2: graded warm-ups- I take a few practice problems or cool downs, change the numbers, and give it at the beginning of class. It is announced. And very short! #OpenUpMath

Assessments, graded CW (short graded assignment similar to a few reach back problems), mastery cw (skills practice students can retake and keep their highest score - often Khan Academy but can also be a short one problem assignment) and homework #OpenUpMath

Kelsey from MD! I teach math 8 to 7th and 8th graders. Grading reqmts- no more than 10% hw and at least ten grades a quarter. #OpenUpMath

A5: Routine and structure go a long way! #openupmath

A4: If I could redo my first year of teaching I would not grade EVERYTHING and not be a total pushover #OpenUpMath

A3: Nobody told me not to limit parent conferences so I let my first one ever, 13 years ago, last one hour. #OpenUpMath

A2: For teachers in regards to OUR...Trust the curriculum. In the classroom...Connections matter #openupmath

A1: Ditch the heels and wear flats! Jewelry can upgrade any outfit easily. I avoid anything that needs ironing if possible. #OpenUpMath

Kelsey from Maryland. Teaching Math 8 this year. You know it's the first week of school when you start upping your caffeine intake. #OpenUpMath

A5: Notice and wonder, which one doesn’t belong, students learning to work in groups #OpenUpMath

A4: Making copies here! We print lesson packets (launch, activities, lesson summary). We used condensed closures to fit more on a page. I have two filing cabinets just to hold all the copies and we cycle units in. Black lines have a special drawer #OpenUpMath

A3: Name tents and then looking at Canvas that has pictures of the kids for attendance while responding on the name tents #OpenUpMath

A2: find your seat with an order of ops number problem given at the door, name tent, ice breaker (shortened classes the first few days) #OpenUpMath
