Quite wrongly Sid Siddiqui, 80, is appearing on the Channel 4 show Gogglebox while signed off on mental health grounds by Derbyshire Community Health Service job where he does 3 days a week for £35K as an environmental manager. So he’s on full pay while colleagues tell the Mail…
80? I thought you had to retire before that in the NHS.
Stream, call, game, and work in even the most remote locations. Order online in minutes
Not being funny, but why at the age of 80 is he still working? Even part time? & why does he get so much for only doing 3 days? This is why the NHS has no money. It's a massive slap in the face for everyone else who works with him, unfortunately this is not an isolated incident.
What the heck does an 'Environmental Manager' do anyway? And why would one be on the NHS payroll?
I bet there would be thousands of people who would love his 3 day a week job paying £35k.
Upto 6 months he would be on full pay. After 6 months he would be on half pay, after 12 months zero pay
Starmer could elevate him to the House of Lords at this rate.
Why is he not being progressed (slowly I imagine) towards capability dismissal?
His mates are jealous that he's on the box and earning more than they are. So they want to drop him in as much sh!t as possible.
We all know most people , not all , are not really ill when they play the mental health card. Everyone could do it if they wanted to, but upstanding moral civilised people with a work ethic don’t. The lazy and the feckless do
How can a female Cleaner, working at the House of Commons and also working in her own spare time for another company, be sacked, but Mr Saddiqui, also employed by the Taxpayer, is allowed to remain employed?
When you have mental health problems you can still watch TV. Spending time with his sons, chatting about what they are watching does not mean he doesn’t have those problems. Also he might find it therapeutic. You really should mind your own business.
I worked in the NHS during Covid and nurses openly discussed ‘their turn’ to put in a positive test and get their two weeks off. It was and is a scandal. It wouldn’t surprise me that it still goes on.
Why on earth is an 80-year-old still at work. He's clearly not up to the job anymore & he should let a younger person have a chance. Just selfish tbh.
🏅 Next year, the Winter Olympics will capture global attention. Will your brand be part of the story? Don’t miss this session on how to activate when the spotlight is brightest.
People often forget, when somebody is off all the time , it puts tremendous pressure on the workers who have to pick up the slack for them,
WTF is a 80yo doing still working? surely any contract of employment he had ceased 15yrs ago when he reached the then retirement age, this is no chuffin different to a Benefits cheat that everybody loves to hate, @NHSEngland need to act and deal with this workshy scrounger grrrrr
Why is he still employed at 80 anyway? Especially as he doesn't seem to bother going into work.
I agree up to the point where you criticise NHS workers for time off when ill. Many NHS workers will come across immune deficient and ill people so will have to be sick for a week with a cold. To do otherwise would be dangerous.
The first thing how many other 80 year olds do they employ anyway ?!
Hmm. You state he is 80. Correct or a typo? If the first, he is of pension age! Know people can work beyond that, but 80?
I have a friend who works for the NHS and she phones in 'sick' at the drop of a hat owing to a 'family crisis '. Basically to look after her grandchildren whilst their mother who lives on benefits goes on holiday.
He’s basically taking the piss you know it he knows or we all know it and he’s not alone
What "environmental management" does the NHS have to do? Account for how much waste it disposes of?
We had a teacher who was off sick with stress full pay for 3 months but was posting pictures of herself in the gym & meeting up with friends. Obviously that pissed many of us off who were working twice as hard to cover her work, but apparently she was “working her rights” 🤬
No wonder the NHS is in the state it is. Double standards or what?
And don't forget Nadine Dorries went off to Australia to appear on "I'm A Celebrity" while still a sitting MP
He has retired - on far more than any pension will get him too - this is the new final salary pension
would his employer be so accommodating if his name was say fred smith I wonder
My question is why the fuck is he paid so well for being and environment manager ?? I mean what even is that ??
Why is an 80yo employed by the NHS anyway! He should be retired on a pension
