Was the future of the Poll Dorset breed born tonight? 200262 was joined to Valma “Lyell” ($41k) and had triplets! The same joining last year produced high marbling genetics +0.59 for IMF as well as a large eye muscle (+3.88). To visualise, think wagyu marbling in a lamb chop.

I had to have a second glance at this White Suffolk ram lamb’s tail, I thought a crow had eaten part of the tail. Luckily, he and his twin sister just have a short tail. Will be interesting to follow the tail growth.
Have to say that I am enjoying gallagher APS+, moving our records into the cloud. I can have quick access to animal history in the paddock, this ewe (as suspected) has stolen a lamb.

It was a grim forecast for Autumn - including March, but this month has surprised with near record rainfall along the NSW slopes and ranges. There's many reasons but one is a SST gradient off Exmouth - just in the right spot for convection
Genomics testing has been completed and this young poll dorset ram lamb has the marbling and shear force goods. Sired by Valma 40 and the dam side goes back to an elite Hillcroft Farms ewe we purchased resulting in outstanding shear force genes.
With progeny on the ground, Poll Dorset 211274 is now the #1 Sire for PEMD in Australia! Bigger chops = bigger results for clients. He will be joined with high PWWT ewes, with lambs on the ground in August 2023. Great to see the impact of our investments in genetics.
