Anybody who is looking for a cheap way to paint without buying panels to paint on I suggest moleskine art sketchbooks. Just rip out as many pages as you need, you don’t need to prime them or anything.

Another good resource I thought I’d share for all my graphic design friends. crate . as They have a good amount of free assets like fonts and textures. They also have a premium subscription but check out the freebies first maybe you can grab something worth using.

uniqlo has some pretty interesting magazines they hand out for free. I’m surprised how good the layouts are in this issue. Makes me want to start collecting more magazines just to study them.

I recently learned this when I got my Apple Studio Display. Now I let my MacBook sleep while keeping it plugged in at all times, and it caps the battery at 80%.

keeping your laptop plugged in is less damaging to the battery than constantly draining and refilling it I always thought it is the opposite

Short list of great sites for website/graphic design inspiration and mood-boarding that I use. cosmos arena people’s graphic design archive another graphic (seems to be broken as of now)

I know what excellent work looks like but my abilities are still too far behind. I’m not rushing it though. I’ll keep on showing up. I’ll keep on making.

Life goes by very fast. And the worst thing in life that you can have is a job that you hate, and have no energy and creativity in.

If anyone is looking for some open source resources to use for their portfolio projects, especially if it’s graphic design I recommend checking out: New York Public Library Digital Archive The MET Open Access Collection Smithsonian Open Access

Don’t feel pressured to post everything you make. Not every design needs to be shared. Some work is just for you, experiments only you were meant to see. Just cause you’re not posting it doesn’t mean you’re not growing.

You know what’s so strange about design? The world consumes it constantly and undervalues it just as much. Not enough people realize how many things work because a designer silently made them so.

On learning to write good copy. Most good copy you come across on product pages or old magazine ads have rhythm. They sound like a conversation. The key is to learn the rhythm, the timing, and the pauses. Study vintage ads, art merch descriptions, podcast intros, and film…

There’s a certain way you must think in order to know when a design is “finished”. Usually it’s when the design fulfills its purpose. But, there are other ways to completely be sure of it. Every element of your design needs to be there for a reason, constantly ask yourself why…

On choosing a color palette for your designs as an artist or designer. When picking a color palette you need to think about the emotion you’re trying to convey and also the space your design will live in. That could be, a digital screen, print, or even a physical space like a…

You can learn a lot about art from plants. Their form is shaped from purpose. They are flexible and adaptable. They grow in layers and are good teachers of visual harmony. There is a ton of diversity and hidden patterns. It's beautiful.
