Pre-read conferences are my fave. This looks like it will be great, both for ancient philosophy folks and anyone interested in friendship.

The University of Kent is closing its philosophy department among others. This was a thriving department who did great in the REF and the NSS. The government are not helping universities to thrive and are not helping the humanities. kent.ac.uk/news/statement…

Sadly, @UniKent has announced plans to axe a number of smaller departments, including philosophy. We perform well on all measures, including student recruitment. But smaller subjects have less clout and are easiest to cut. Help us shout out our value to the uni! They need to hear

I love this little documentary, featuring my former colleague @edithmayhall. Students in my Aristotle seminar were fascinated to see the place Aristotle grew up and think about how the geography and politics might have influenced his work.

Check out this excellent documentary by @edithmayhall that visits all the 8 places where Aristotle lived at some time or other and examines their influence on him. m.youtube.com/watch?v=-moYjt…

Really looking forward to this, it will be a great privilege to try to honor Rosa's memory in this way. I will be talking about theories of assent (the topic of her final book, which is appearing soon) in Islamic philosophy.

Peter Adamson will be speaking at KCL this November for the @theBSHP's annual lecture in memory of Rosa Antognazza: philevents.org/event/show/114…
