Ringing in 2020, too with some fresh walls to convert MICU back to biomode.
The PC-COS group & @WHO need your help to determine the most important outcomes to be measured in future #LongCOVID studies and clinical care pc-cos.org [email protected] @ahandvanish @AthenaAkrami @Dr2NisreenAlwan @LongCovidSOS @patientled @ISARIC1 @trishgreenhalgh
Fewer people developed blood clots from the Johnson and Johnson vaccine than were murdered at a FedEx facility last night. Perhaps we need a pause on firearms.
I'm seeing a lot of "anniversary" messages online and in my work e-mail about where we were and what started a year ago at @umichmedicine as we began to fill our hospital with COVID patients. I am not really liking this or the feelings that are coming back. It's like someone...
I really have enough of people saying that #COVID19 doesn't affect young people. Half of ICU patients are below 62 y of age. That is young according to my standard. And their kids are often between 10 and 20 years age. Go and tell them that #COVID19 does not affect young people.
Worth remembering that sometimes a cuff leak means that a tube has slipped out of the trachea and into the hypopharynx. Blindly pushing in that setting may not get you anywhere but lost. (I love love love disposable bronchoscopes.)
Inside hospitals, healthcare workers will do everything they can to save them, but 3000+ Americans will die of COVID-19 today Inside the Capitol Building, backed by Trump's rhetoric and many republicans, rioters are attempting a coup. We can and should be doing so much better
One day last year I had to examine a patient on airborne precautions. My size of N95 wasn't immediately available so I opened a brand new PAPR hood for the 5 minute encounter then threw it away without a second thought. I think of that PAPR often.
Ahmad Ayyad, 40, was healthy and fit before #COVID19 almost killed him. He’s now regaining his strength after a harrowing 25 days on ventilation. bit.ly/2GC6Dbd

Right Here Right Now-Solutions: Telling Stories About Patients as...
Ted Cruz knew. Rand Paul knew. Nikki Haley knew. Marco Rubio knew. Kellyanne Conway knew. Mike Pompeo knew. Glenn Beck knew. Rick Perry knew. Susan Collins knew. They all knew.
“They chose not to hold their own children’s hands so they could hold ours. They intubated us and kept our ICU rooms germ-free. They brushed our teeth and switched our position so we could be more comfortable.
Many have asked whether this week’s change in hospital data reporting will impact our coronavirus dashboard. The answer is no. We do not currently source any data from the CDC, so the reporting on our dashboards will not be affected. cnbc.com/2020/07/16/us-…
There's talk about PPE shortages again. Marines are heroes. Healthcare workers are not. We are people doing our job and we can do it safely if we have the proper equipment. No more Blue Angels flyovers, no more Heroes Work Here signs. Steady supply of PPE's please.
July 1 is an exciting time at academic medical centers. New learners, new relationships! BUT everyone should still practice social distancing and wear masks. And would avoid posting pictures of groups of trainees not wearing masks.
