Govt can cut benefits or raise taxes at a moment’s notice. Give nearly 20 years notice of an increase in pension age and apparently compensation may be due at a potential cost of billions; to be paid by younger generations. Ludicrous. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

You couldn’t have waterboarded this clip out of me.

Maybe I'm unfairly suspicious of the "Secretary of State" for Scotland...🤔

Columbo here thinks there’s something suspicious about a minister being able to answer a committee’s questions. Admittedly it’s a skill that eludes most Scottish Government ministers, but everywhere else it’s sort of considered a basic requirement of the job.

Your understanding of “centre left” is not recognisable to any reasonable person.

Agreed 👇🏽

If most Brits seriously think that inadvertently failing to obtain an obscure housing rental licence makes someone unfit to serve as Chancellor, then quite frankly we richly deserve to be governed by uninspiring technocrats.

Rory Stewart has genuinely gone on national TV and suggested that the Prince Andrew case is just not that important A story about vulnerable girls being sexually exploited by the rich and powerful I’ve never come across someone so out of touch with the public mood

"There are things in the world so massive that the British parliament, and you I'm afraid, are not dealing with... are not gripping" Rory Stewart, former Conservative Minister and co-host of The Rest Is Politics, argues that there's too much focus on Prince Andrew. #Newsnight

This is so dumb 1. There are under 200 billionaires in the UK. If they all sell their houses, the impact on the property market will be *tiny*. 2. But why would they sell? They probably spend only a few months here now. If they become non-resident they’ll spend a bit less.

Ash Sarkar wins over Matthew Syed re taxing billionaires. Syed says Billionaires would leave if we taxed them more. Sarkar says if they do, they can’t take property with them. If they sell, people won’t have to compete with them for property. Syed “Well, that’s true.” #bbcqt

Just worth pointing out that if Poland is the model that the British right wants to look up to, great, but Poland is an EU member. And that membership has been critical to their fast economic growth.

Sorry to return to this, but it is genuinely one of the weirdest and most disturbing exchanges I have ever seen on TV. Why on earth should anyone reproach themselves, or be rebuked by another person, simply for stating that they were "born and bred" in a particular place?

This is absolutely bizarre. A local councillors tells a TV interviewer that she was "born and bred here", then checks herself as if she has said something terrible, and then the interviewer weighs in against her for saying it. Truly extraordinary.

What is the motivation behind this emergency protest? Why would any reasonable human being think today was an appropriate time organise? I genuinely don't get it. It's this kind of mentality that makes the common good impossible. This is what we call divisive.

I'm seeing quite a bit of comment about this, so I want to make a couple of points. I'm not owed eternal agreement from any actor who once played a character I created. The idea is as ludicrous as me checking with the boss I had when I was twenty-one for what opinions I should…

When migrants use our courts to delay and prevent removals with last-minute and disingenuous claims, it's no longer a system that works for the British people. We can't accept this and will fight these claims every step of the way.

This is a man. A man who exposed his penis to children. Journalism is supposed to accurately report reality. Media organisations that brazenly push the quasi-religious belief that men are women if they say so cannot be trusted.

Angela Rayner has complex living arrangements as a result of her divorce and her son’s disability. She took professional financial advice, advice that a lawyer has now said was wrong. She is taking action to rectify the situation. Rayner should not be hounded out of office.
