Hahaha AFCON is so so back. First game, first overhead kick, Ayoub el Kaabi. Stunner.
No midfield and vibes

Excuse to post something, now I have updated core color palette, but here is a look at Belgian teams' throw-ins into the box
Agree with @JakeEntwistle here, and what's vital is a common football language: use the same words/labels for metrics in your data reports as you do in your video/live reports.
I was preaching something similar in this @scoutedftbl newsletter. Knowing the definitions inside and out gives you a massive advantage: scoutedftbl.com/separating-box…
If you know what it takes to build xG-models, you will understand it much better + use it in a way that’s more representative of the data. Measuring finishing on match-level data? ❌
Club staff use and understand xg more deeply than most others. It's why working in football is incredibly hard at the highest level - just like playing. There's immense talent at the staff level of elite football.
👇👇👇 Being able to know what a metric is, how it’s collected (and may vary by provider), what influences it, different ways to interpret it, limitations of it, what focal level it can/should/shouldn’t be used on, what other metrics it complements/should be complemented by…….

Very proud of what I have done with this. Not so much the output, but much more the creative process behind it.
Expected Shot Danger: Modelling danger probabilities from shots 📊 Over the past year I've been developing a shot-based model that started as an alternative for xG, but has developed as model that ranks shot danger based on blocked and unblocked shots. marclamberts.medium.com/expected-shot-…

This is not only an insightful data viz, but creating the calculation and engineering behind it is actually a great example of using event data to get good insights into trends. @BeGriffis does that really well.
Sena Igarashi's throws into the box led to 6 goals for Iwaki this season, and 42 further shots
Ryo my friend, another incredible review. King 👑 🐐
Exciting football news to share soon. One of the reasons why I haven't been writing lately. Things are looking up :)
