Tuesday’s appeals court ruling—a long-awaited victory for Public.Resource.org—upholds the idea that our laws belong to all of us, and we should be able to find, read, and share them free of registration requirements, fees, and other roadblocks.
Today, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia issued its opinion in the case ASTM International v. Public.Resource.Org, finding that online posting of building codes (and other standards) incorporated into the law by reference constitutes a fair use.
