Today a coworker said he "challenged himself” to "old school google" something instead of using chat gpt. And that he "used to be really good at googling" and it was "hard" for him cause he "only uses chat gpt now.” He said this out loud in a meeting

Thank you Jeff, for solving the mystery of why people interested in making toys no longer visit my website. It was a puzzle why, recently, traffic fell to zero - since my website had always been a helpful resource to answer questions about toy making. The interested individuals…

As an example of how we are building on top of Gemini 3, AI Mode in Search now uses Gemini 3 to enable new generative UI experiences, all generated completely on the fly based on your query. Here’s how you might use this to learn a complex topic like how RNA polymerase works.

I have no idea what “Agents” as a product means. Am I the only one? It reminds me of the old Steve Jobs clip about not starting with the technology. “Agents for teamwork” is meaningless to me, with all respect to Notion

Fascinating piece of Internet history of the last few years (and also tied into different sub Cultures of big Tech)

This is a pretty stupid question but I'll go ahead and engage with it in good faith because a lot of people coming after ~2023 probably think the same thing due to context loss. Yacine, and the horde of tech-obsessive mostly-Canadian anime pfp posters who copied him (halogen…

“Stop hiring humans. The Era of AI Employees is Here.” Billboards across the country are promoting the replacement of millions of jobs with AI and robotics. Great idea. One simple question: How will those displaced workers survive when there are no jobs or income for them?

a lot of sf startups work 996 bc deep down they know they’re not building anything differentiated. speed is the only edge left when you’re making the 57th lovable for excel.

Ultimately just proof that creatives in all mediums are an integral part of the process. I suppose the sales pitch is “so fast tho!”. But everyone in gamedev knows “do it fast, do it twice.” Don’t worry about this stuff guys, it’s not your code, your jpegs or mp3 files that…

I want to specially thank the @vercel team for working around the clock to keep customers safe and available. In fact, I was sleeping, it was 2am~ ish, and I was alerted about this issue because my internet mattress (which I love, shoutout to @eightsleep) was warm 😅, which led…

a lot of very smart people i know are finding the code tools useful, but it also seems like there are huge iceberg-esque aspects of software development that have become bottlenecks as ~simple code generation gets easier and faster

i remain a Cluely-skeptic, but I do think @im_roy_lee has a good insight on UGC. UGC can work, but conversion funnel needs to be tight and buy in price for user needs to be low

love u nik, but this is wrong. here’s how ugc (user generated content) works: for those who don’t know, ugc is paying some person to give an “organic” recommendation for a product a good ugc video sets a 30sec timer of interest in the user’s mind, no longer you have that time…

So I’m noticing, as I look at houses to rent, that landlords are using AI to stage the pictures but the AI is also cleaning up the walls, paint, windows and stuff in the process so when you go look in person it looks way more worn and torn than the pics would show
