Introducing my first thread: America’s Forgotten HBCUs. I initially did this one on my main page back in April 2021, but a LOT of people requested this one so I wanted to redo it on this page!

The historic Negro Travelers’ Green Book, was an annual travel guide published from 1936 to 1964 by Victor H. Green. It provided Black travelers with information necessary to stay safe and comfortable during the era of segregation prior to the Civil Rights Act. 📗 #learnmowithjoe

Rest In Power to Assata Shakur (1947-2025) ✊🏿🕯️🕊️ Freedom fighter, former Black Panther & member of the Black Liberation Army. Exiled in Cuba after escaping prison for her activism, she remains a global symbol of Black resistance and liberation.




Behind Every Good Man is a 1967 American short film directed by Nikolai Ursin. The film follows an unidentified African-American #trans woman through one day of her life in Los Angeles. The film was characterized the film as "a hybrid of documentary and scripted fiction". #lgbt
On this day in 1963, the KKK bombed Birmingham’s 16th Street Baptist Church, killing 4 girls: Addie Mae Collins (14), Carole Robertson (14), Cynthia Wesley (14), & Denise McNair (11). Their friend Sarah Collins (12) survived. May they rest in peace 🕊️ #OnThisDay #BlackHistory

Tuskegee Institute was featured in “Negro Colleges in War Time” (1943), a short documentary/propaganda film by the US government (Office of War Information) detailing the work on HBCU campuses during WWII in response to the call for military recruits & trained workers. #tuskegee
