Police left Brett lying dead and uncovered on the street for hours.
After the young man police were looking for ran out of the house (on fire) police took him to hospital. They then called the fire department to put out the fire, The fire department found Brett dead in the house.
They also smashed the house's windows. They knew the 14-year-old was in the house, with the other young man who was the target of the warrants, and who suffered burn injuries. In fact the specific purpose of throwing in the grenades was to force them out of the house.
