I think if there’s any good news in women’s health right now, it’s that in the long absence of funding or prioritization, we were building our own independent companies and funding streams that can survive outside of traditional sources of research dollars. So we are ready.
Energy not to bring into 2024: blaming Ob/Gyn, a systematically over worked and under-resourced specialty, for all of medicine’s failures when it comes to women’s health. Women’s health is part of EVERY field. OB/Gyn is pelvic and reproductive medicine.
People wonder why there’s no research in women’s health but there’s only one field of medicine that does any woman-centric healthcare and it’s torn in 100 different directions at all times just trying to protect itself and its patients from bleeding out at the hands of the law
If you're an early-stage investor looking for growth potential – look to women's health. Why? @katelin_cruse broke it down ↓ First, the facts: → Half the population are women → Women have specific healthcare needs → Women control 80%+ of healthcare spending decisions Then,…

💥 FemTech is finally hot, but too many medical devices are still failing female users. For decades, medical devices and wearables have been designed (mostly) by men, for (mostly) men. From heart monitors that don’t account for menstrual physiology to diagnostic tools tuned to…
Even in a country where reproductive rights are being skewered, I think the more horrifying threat to women’s health is the appallingly low reimbursement for OB/Gyn services. People don’t realize how fast hospitals are dropping Obstetrics and sidelining Gynecology.
There should be public outrage, frankly, over the fact that OB/GYN departments receive only 1% of NIH research funding. OB/GYN and our specialties provide the majority of care and surgery women receive in a lifetime, but ONE PERCENT of the research dollars. This is a crisis.
Agree completely. Outstanding grand rounds from THE Dr. Jackie Parchem @jackie_parchem. Further, that OB/Gyn Depts receive 1.2% of total NIH funding to study conditions that affect 50%+ of the population is recurrently mind blowing. @CedarsSinai @CMECedarsSinai @OBGYN_CS
