A warmer nest above 85 Fahrenheit will produce more females
A cooler nest below 82 farehenheit will produce more males
My mouth is that way so that I can tear large pieces of food
The hatching turtles emerge at night after about two months
I dive in for about 4 to 5 mins and come up to the surface to breath for 1 to 3 seconds
My population is between 40,000 and 50,000 nesting females
My greatest threat is loss of nesting habitat due to coastal development
I lay 3 to 6 nests per season which is about 12-14 days apart
My diet consists of shellfish, horseshoe crabs, clams, mussels and other invertebrates
