I was involved in government (California) when this switch happened. I vouch for this thread’s explanation. It was a hippie mistake, a notion that took hold. No one spoke up for asylums. It’s past time to reinvent them.

1/ This chart has been making the rounds lately, and since I am an American and have both worked in a mental hospital and been a criminal defense lawyer, I have opinions. The idea that insane people belong in institutions came under 2-pronged attack in the 1950s and 1960s.

Andy Jassy, the current CEO of Amazon, has been with the company for 28 years. In 2003, he played a pivotal role in creating and scaling AWS which is the most valuable part of Amazon. A significant portion of the modern internet is powered by AWS. Amazon today is worth $2.4…

Amazon’s CEO makes at least $40.1 MILLION a year while the average Amazon worker makes less than $38k a year How is that pro-worker or pro-American? It’s time to put American workers FIRST

It's funny that people who dream of a world without capitalism are unable to imagine what the world was like without capitalism.

Capitalism is unnatural. Capitalism created poverty. Poverty is manmade.

Those who point out falsehoods on their own side are assumed to be working for the enemy, because our hunter-gatherer brains struggle to comprehend that someone could genuinely care about the truth more than any tribe. This makes political movements hard to self-correct.

I can believe car deaths are bad but an acceptable trade-off for people being able to travel freely. Doesn’t mean I deserve to die in a car accident etc.

To those critics of Charlie Kirk sharing this headline, it's not a gotcha. Yes, believing in the right to bear arms means there will be unfortunate gun deaths. Just like believing in free speech means there will be unfortunate deaths, perpetrated by monsters who believe it's…

I call it naive optimism and I have it in spades

You have to be delusional to be an entrepreneur. The odds are stacked against you but you don't care. Everyone else sees reasons why it won't work. You only see reasons why it will. It's a beautiful thing.

Why is political violence spiking in America, even as most Americans tune out politics? Because the politically engaged minority is mainlining hate on social media all day long, and getting radicalized. noahpinion.blog/p/civil-war-is…

Of all possible targets, they chose Charlie Kirk, a man who, despite holding strong views, was among the few political influencers who always made the effort to engage civilly and in good faith with people who disagreed with him. Perhaps this is why he was feared.
