In Spring Boot 2.3, we migrated the build from Maven to Gradle. If you're interested in why and how we made the change, I've just published a blog post with some of the details: spring.io/blog/2020/06/0…. On average CI builds are now 3x-4x faster and local builds 20x-30x faster.

Primarily the build speed. The caching is really good and we now can build more in parallel. I guess we should write a blog about it.

We (well mostly @ankinson) migrated the @springboot build to Grade and I must say the @gradle team have been tremendously helpful and supportive. Gradle Enterprise is also a really really nice product.

Great news everyone!
