Congrats to Md. Shenuarin Bhuiyan, PhD, Associate Professor of Pathology, who was recently awarded a five-year $3,301,470 R01 grant from the NIH National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute for his project, "Novel mitophagy regulatory mechanism in heart failure."

Dr. Wayne Orr, Dr. Art Yurdigal, Dr. Nirav Dhanesha, Dr. Oren Rom, Rajan Pandit, Dr. Dhananjay Kumar, Naznin Sultana-Remex and Peyton McKinney enjoyed attending #vasculardiscovery2024 in Chicago, IL earlier this month while representing LSU Health Shreveport Pathology/Research.
What's Happening? On Friday, May 24, 2024, the Research Literature Meeting will be held from 12:00 -1:00 p.m. Presenting will be Naznin Sultana Remex, Brenna Pearson-Gallion, Shafuil Alam and Hilansi Rawat.
Congrats, Dr. Richa Aishwarya! She is the May Post Doctoral Fellow of the month. Her mentor is Dr. Bhuiyan. Dr. Aishwarya's research is focused on understanding the pathophysiology of cardiac and skeletal muscle pathologies with a prime emphasis on mitochondria and autophagy.
Please join us on Friday, May 10, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. -1:00 p.m. in the Medical School Building B, Room 5-337 for Journal Club. Brenna Pearson-Gallion will be our presenter. Brenna is a Graduate Student in Dr. Orr's lab.
Congratulations to Dr. Chris Kevil, Vice Chancellor for Research, for recently being named as an AAAS Fellow! Dr. Kevil is only the second faculty member in the history of LSU Health Shreveport to be elected to this honor.
Congratulations, Brenna Pearson-Gallion! She is the May Graduate Student of the Month! Brenna is a doctoral candidate in Dr. Orr's lab in the Depart of Molecular & Cellular Physiology. When she's not in the lab, Brenna enjoys gardening, reading and hanging out with her family.
Several of our Research Faculty and Post Doctoral students will attend the upcoming Vascular Discovery 2024: Genes to Medicine conference in Chicago, IL. This conference is to maximize thought-provoking discourse among scientists, as well as foster connections.
