I’ve never met anyone IRL that really hates a piece of tech. It’s mostly a social media thing. I think it’s just people chasing engagement because it works IMO just ignore and focus on more interesting discussions.
Hating a particular tech is kinda silly IMO. First the hate on PHP, then JavaScript, then Tailwind CSS and now Rails. I mean if it doesn’t work for you, find another tool. Just know that someone, somewhere uses that tech for a living and they’re happy with it.
Exactly my thoughts on this. They're getting a gigantic amount of free marketing through organic engagement and sharing on a segment they're targeting. I doubt the "cringeness" was not planned, marketing needs to stand out in this age of so much noise.
Universal “cringe” response to this video on social media. Must be a failure, right? I thought Canva was just for making flyers for kids birthday parties. And now I know they have Canva an “enterprise product” (whatever that means).
It's hard to predict what AI will do to the world, but that's all the more reason to learn to program. AI may churn up any industry, but the programmers have the best chance of surfing on this wave instead of having it crash on their heads.
Shipping fast doesn't mean shipping shitty things. It doesn't come from sacrifing quality, but from eliminating waste.
Act on press This is a UI design hill I will die on, and it dismays me how often and hard I have had to fight for it. Almost all interaction methods have a “press” and “release” event associated with them. Whenever possible, you should “do the thing” when you get the press…

Being good (in either sense) will bring you what seems like good luck, but isn't as random as it seems. People will talk about you behind your back, just as they do if you're bad, but instead of secretly harming you, they'll secretly help you.

I’m really interested how a bank managed to deploy code that didn’t have tests for “can a user withdraw money when they don’t have enough balance.” Development teams at banks are usually conservative, process-heavy and slow-moving with changes exactly to avoid this. Wow:

Meanwhile, he emailed employees today telling them to submit ideas “to improve the product, increase revenue, and decrease costs.” He said the list of ideas will be reviewed by regularly by leaders and the company will “execute as many as possible.”

Sempre que perguntar ou passar uma demanda deixe claro a importância e o "apetite". Facilmente a pessoa que recebe pode não estar alinhada nisso com a gente. E uma coisa que era pra ser simples ocupa 2 semanas. Um simples "me dá o melhor que conseguir em 2h" resolve isso.
as vantagens de discussões técnicas SEM contextos são que: 1) você não precisa fazer qualquer esforço para ponderar trade-offs; 2) e principalmente porque te ajuda a sempre estar certo; não à toa eh o que rola de monte no Twitter 🤷🏻♀️
