“Self-inflation is the rule in life,” wrote Robert Trivers; hence his conclusion that we fool ourselves so as better to fool others. This explains a lot of why smart folks truly believe in toxic stress, ACEs, and complex PTSD despite the obvious lack of scientific evidence.
Bears repeating as psychologists try to recast everyday slights of perceived discrimination as trauma:
Life-threat that is sudden and unexpected. It’s based on the type of event that can cause PTSD. It almost always creates a moment of panic and terror that one believes they, or a loved one, may die. It is not gray. You either have that moment of terror or you don’t.

While CRT and DEI are being purged from public schools, they still run rampant in academic psychology. A main problem is that there are simply very few conservative psychologists or psychiatrists to speak out.
NEW. My letter to the editor was published in Molecular Psychiatry, noting major flaws in a study which claimed that structural racism causes permanent brain damage. Chief among problems was that 55 out of 67 tests (82%) of their hypotheses were non-significant. Instead of…

The data being used to support the so-called child mental health crisis caused by social media contains seriously flawed self-report surveys. Haidt and colleagues either don’t know or don’t care how to interpret these studies.
Of the 268 studies Haidt cited in his two Google docs supporting his claim that social media is causing a crisis of anxiety and depression, 99% used SELF-REPORTS. Of the only two interview studies—the only two that ought to be trusted—both failed to support his claim.

Open science is indeed ‘a movement,’ as in ‘not empirically-derived.’ It is loosely defined and unproven in its benefits. Beneath its rhetoric lies an ideology of enforced equity that risks undermining property rights and the capitalist incentives that fuel innovation.
Day 2 of #OSFair2025 at CERN comes to a close! Today proved once again: #OpenScience isn’t a concept, it’s a movement...alive, evolving, and powered by collaboration. Thank you all for the energy, insights, & inspiration. Tomorrow we’re back at 9:00 CEST! #Community #CERN
