Took me long enough, but rpmalloc 1.4.1 is finally out. Some performance increases, most notably when using huge pages, details in changelog. Get it while it’s hot, people. github.com/mjansson/rpmal…
So long and thanks for all the fish - in case I decide to scratch the social itch again I’ll be at mastodon.gamedev.place/@maniccoder and/or cohost.org/maniccoder
With age I find myself interested in increasingly boring topics. First rpmalloc and memory allocation, then a CAD tessellator, and now… version control. Save me from my brain please.
designing the autopilot program to shut off less than a second before impact so your company can deny it was the cause of the impact is simply epic
This. 👇
Very interesting post about memory allocation performance in a real world scenario
The seduction of social media is feeling like your voice itself has intrinsic power. It doesn't. This is not a public discourse. You are a tourist entering into an algorithmic game run by hustlers, on a street policed by the illiterate, under a regime paid by taxing attention.

Thank you @SuperluminalSft for pointing out my stupid and cutting execution time from 5+ min to 30 sec by this one weird trick, i.e not calling GetAdaptersInfo a gazillion times for generating uuids 🙄
If you are having a bad day, whoever and wherever you are, I hope reading this will cheer you up. This is monumentally good news for all of humanity.
🧠A vaccine against Alzheimer’s disease could be on the horizon after scientists carried out successful trials in animals. Researchers were able to reverse memory loss in mice and are keen to move quickly to human trials Thread 🧵👇 telegraph.co.uk/news/2021/11/1…
100% this - nobody likes parking, but quite a few enjoy driving
For me personally, finding a parking slot and parking the car to a tight place are the most annoying things about cars (when driving in big cities). AI research should focus on solving these things instead of 100% focusing on driving, which is pretty fun for me at least.
So I’m in the shower and I hear a crash from the office. I get out and find two very innocent looking cats, and my old macbook air completely smashed on the floor. Announce the new pro models already #apple and take my money.
tech nerds fucked up when we started wearing free tech company t shirts instead of how they dress in the matrix
Patents are bad. They're the death of knowledge sharing and human innovation. They spit in the face of everyone who contributed to build this enormous mountain of knowledge you're standing on, while you add your patented grain of sand and surround it with red tape.
