some favorite books from 2022

I have this bad habit of immediately starting the next book instead of organising the notes and writing a review. There are about five books I read in the last couple of months, and I have a lot of scattered notes. I should probably clean them up and post them here.

My friend was asking > what are some movies that are about moloch-ian incentives something where individual characters are influenced by some Moloch type thing (i.e. the invisible hand of culture/markets etc.) and as a viewer, it's easy to see, but none of the characters see it

Is there a German word for the feeling when your friend rates a book 2 stars and roasts it on Goodreads and you happen to give it 5 stars and it’s one of your fav series

This just blew my mind! Murakami’s nightclub name was “Peter Cat”, which is also the name of my favourite Indian band (@pcrcdelhi), who got their name from a cafe in Kolkata, named after a famous cat that used to frequent Lord’s Cricket Ground!! A web among my favourites.

I read most of his stuff until he started repeating himself but largely agree would like to emphasise that the nightclub was called Peter Cat

I would also like to remind everyone that we must turn out massively for this movie, so that we can eventually get a movie where a giant CG worm lectures Jason Momoa on political philosophy for three or four hours 🙏

I don’t do this but it sounds like something I would do lmao

I always listen to rap after meditating to ensure that I don't develop "spiritual guy" vibes

I forgot how good this movie was

interesting and this also tracks with @DavidDeutschOxf’s views. but ig without the external forces, it’d still be prudent to consider the x-risk?

The Three Body Problem is an e/acc piece of science fiction because, unlike the others that narrate the dangers of new technology, it describes the civilisation-ending consequences of *delaying* the development of new tech

I started to develop mad respect for people who are socially and emotionally intelligent

Maturity is when you realise sheldon's sister is as smart as sheldon in a different domain. Sheldon is cerebral, his talent is in handling edge cases, generalizing competently, being rigorous with abstract thinking. But missy is equally talented at theory of mind, intuition,…
