I wanted to thank @LinfeiPan @majti89 @mapo1 @pesarlin for the amazing open-source repos of GLOMAP and Hloc. You can also find the original repos here github.com/cvg/Hierarchic… github.com/colmap/glomap
Lastly, GLOMAP is not perfect, it can have some bad outliers. One needs to be careful with it and inspect the outputs. I'm hopeful for GLOMAP for splatting, but atm I'll be sticking to COLMAP as it is more robust and doesn't produce these catastrophic outliers.
I also made a @Gradio interface to make things easier to use, it includes a bunch of options such as which feature detector to use, what matcher, ect...
3. Allows for use of either COLMAP or GLOMAP and logs on how long each part of the pipeline took 4. Made an easy-to-use dataloader for @rerundotio , this is particularly useful for remote servers where the colmap gui usually will not work!
1. Uses sequential matching, this includes both exponential matches and loop closure 2. Visualizes critical parts of the algorithm, feature detection, pair generation, matches, and final reconstruction
This inspired me to take the great hloc repo and the recent GLOMAP mapper and put them together. GLOMAP is often 10x faster than COLMAP and hloc allows using modern learned detectors and matchers. The following are what I did to try to make things faster, and see how they work.
Recently, I've been working a lot on Gaussian Splatting. I built a repo for camera pose estimation using @rerundotio, @Gradio, and @prefix_dev that merges GLOMAP with hloc! 🧵More info below
