Just loosening up with some Black Templars. This painting just kept growing but I tried to keep things feeling somewhat impressionistic. Why do I love Warhammer so much? Space Marines for life!
This was easily my favorite thing I've painted all year. Thank you @criticalrole for trusting me with the art for this book!! I can't wait to see it on the shelves!!!

Man, is there any paint pigment better than payne’s gray? It cools, it neutralizes, it’s a dang miracle worker.
So happy with how this came out. Painted the background clip studio and I animated it in Toon Squid! Go chill and watch your big buddy make dinner.

ToonSquid is the best animation program I’ve used! It’s so good. I wish I could get it on android though.

A little process insight! Start with your major forms, then block out a basic lighting model and then draw your small details in over top!
Can’t talk about this trick enough times.
For animators, ToonSquid is available on IPad at a super amazing price and it's my favorite app ever made <3
Boy, pet insurance is frustrating. I have an 8 month old dog who eats everything, so we ended up at the vet and got a stomach X-ray. $600 dollars later my pet insurance has labeled it as a preexisting condition and won’t cover anything. Time to find a company that isn’t awful.
Sometimes I have to paint a face like 10 times before it doesn’t look awful. Sometimes it looks great on the first try. BUT I don’t quit, and you shouldn’t either. Can’t get better at something unless you’re willing to be a fool first.
