Minnesota Legislature adjourns a budget session on time for just the 8th time in 40 years.
With no votes to spare, Minnesota Democrats have implemented vast new social programs, enacted protections for groups threatened by far-right states and the Supreme Court, strengthened unions, poured money into schools, replaced infrastructure, and fed every Minnesota child.
Minnesota’s Democratic-Farmer-Labor part accompanied this monumental session with a six-vote margin in the House and a bare one-vote majority in the Senate. The scale of their achievement cannot be overstated.
I was told not to tweet this until the houses adjourned for fear of jinxing it, but the Minnesota legislature just completed what is probably the most productive session anywhere in the country since probably the New Deal. Sweeping bills and reforms across every area of life.
I saw my friends & elected representatives give up so much, persevere through such adversity, to deliver a once in a lifetime, generation-defining agenda for all Minnesotans. I’m emotional and it isn’t easy to find all the words right now. So here are two: Thank you. #mnleg

As other states roll back the rights & freedoms of their residents, Minnesota is charting a different path. Moments ago, the Senate DFL Majority passed the Trans Refuge Act — an historic step forward that sends a message to the Trans community that you are welcome in Minnesota.
The forces of hatred and bigotry are on the march in states across this country. But let’s be clear: In Minnesota, that march stops at our borders. When the Trans Refuge Act reaches my desk, I’ll be proud to sign it into law.
