Having a Design Engineer (aka UX Engineer) on your team is a game changer. Attention to detail, product quality, velocity, all benefit from this hybrid role. Yet most tech companies overlook the importance of having people that excel at “front-of-the-front-end” work.

This hits so close to home. Great discussion in the Mastodon thread too. mastodon.social/@elly@front-en… "Front-end development’s identity crisis" by @ellyloel ellyloel.com/blog/front-end…

Great no nonsense breakdown of why these new "AI" providers are just forms of "automation". Also touches on some of the benefits while making sure to cover where it can cause harm. youtube.com/watch?v=eK0md9…

This is how I feel about it too—it’s about your user You need to design for your user, not just your brand identity. Anything less is ego. If users wanna take the extra step to customize, let them. In practice, I don’t think it’ll be used like the demos but more w/little tweaks

Watching web devs and designers baby rage about this is funny. It’s not about you, it’s about the person using the website. Sure we may see some gnarly bugs but I love empowering people to personalize and hide grift from their day to day web. Really cool stuff.

Been scrolling through the #GAAD feed. Partially disheartened at the number of images that do not have any alt text. Shame on you. You know who you are. :(
