It's a cold & wet Saturday at home, I have the house to myself (rare occasion!) so it's the perfect moment to get stuck into this beautiful & wonderful book by @RobertVennell. I've only just started it & I highly recommend. #themeaningoftrees #naturestoryteller #relaxingweekend

Celery pine possesses one of the strongest native timbers. Pākehā used Celery pine in houses, decks, bridges, and railways. Māori found a myriad of uses for the plant, crafting it into waka, masts, paddles, bowls, clubs, spears and walking sticks.

Eucalyptus macrocarpa. I have been dying to see one of these in person and I finally got the chance at @TheHuntington this past week. Those flamboyant flowers emerge from a strange capsule-like bud whose tip pops off like a cap. So cool! 😍
