note to self for next spring's quant analysis
If you teach statistics, I highly recommend these books. Stats aren't inherently racist; stars were developed and used during a time to reinforce overt racism. These racist strategies were framed as normal and are used to date.

Out now in @JournalGIM, our new paper about experiences of trans people reading their EHRs. @_saltylex @transcancerzine @TresneHernandez @jgriggs50 link.springer.com/article/10.100…. #MedTwitter #LGBTQ Thread on findings:
From a #publichealth perspective, we need increased education and awareness for everyone to understand why we need to ask SOGI questions, even when they don't "seem" relevant to the direct care they are receiving. That goes for a lot of surveillance questions.

Yes! And increasing the proportion of training emphasizing communication, behavioral & social science (including LGBTQ+ pop health), along with hard-science competencies to get into med school or other pt-facing healthcare.
Include education in ALL healthcare undergrad curricula. Include patients in development and delivery. Would also add improve organizational support for queer, trans and NB staff to come out and support patients - often overlooked but can make a big difference #behavioralmedchat
A5. Cancer centers need to have a plan in place for in-patient care for trans and/or nonbinary pts. A colleague of mine brought up this issue relating to room-sharing which are often assigned by gender. #BehavioralMedChat
Q5. Last question of the night! Our healthcare system is historically heteronormative and cisnormative. What are the healthcare training, healthcare delivery, and policy priorities that would help improve care for #LGBTQ individuals and their #caregivers? #BehavioralMedChat

A3. Harm reduction in voting. Advocate for non discrimination policies. These actually do make a difference when federal protections are so fragile & at risk with each election cycle. #BehavioralMedChat
Thank you @AcaDamesPodcast—your podcast became an integral part of my postdoc survival/sanity since 2019. I have laughed & cried along with you and am just so grateful.
It is with mixed emotions that we officially end the AcaDames podcast. We’d like to thank #1: our listeners. Having you with us on this journey has been a gift…
