83 patients in out waiting room tonight. Personal and hospital record. Everyone is burned out. I’ve worked ER for close to 13 years through multiple hospitals — never seen morale be this low. I worry for lots of reasons.

Today is Thank a Resident day. Residents/fellows are the bedrock of the medical system without which it would collapse/patients would suffer. They sacrifice the best years of their life for service, at very low financial compensation. Salute to their compassion/empathy/drive!

There is an enormous demonstration going on at @Stanford Hospital right now carried out by staff, who are protesting the decision by higher ups to give vaccines to some administrators and physicians who are at home and not in contact with patients INSTEAD of frontline workers.

Hazard Pay: @MountSinaiNYC @IcahnMountSinai is paying residents hazard pay. More institutions should do the same.

We need to value doctors and healthcare workers. When you think of people as replaceable commodities this is what happens. We are here to work but we need #PPE #HazardPayNow #loanforgiveness

All of these states are asking for health care workers to volunteer - How about offering #PPE #loanforgiveness #HazardPay

#COVID19Pandemic why are #doctors being asked to volunteer rather than being paid fairly or offered #HazardPay or #loanforgiveness

There will be many more physicians die from taking care of #COVIDー19 patients without the protective #PPE We deserve #PPE and #HazardPayNow, as well as #Studentloanforgiveness

BREAKING: First U.S. ER physician dies from COVID-19. Dr. @meganranney, who knew him, reacts: "He was a leader within the emergency room field. ... Unless our government steps up & gets us the protective equipment we need, he will be the first of many of my colleagues."

I agree. That’s why I’m fighting to #CancelStudentDebt in the next coronavirus stimulus package.
