I've realised over time that alignment makes discipline so much easier. Consistency is difficult when you don't understand why it truly matters. Maybe instead of beating yourself up, you need to unlock a level of understanding that makes it difficult NOT to do the thing.
I strongly believe parenting (and any other form of leadership) is a game of influence and not a power struggle. Stop boasting about how strict you are.
