Do you use Facebook events heavily for promoting events? Would you like a simple way to sync them to an iCal file? Well... @PrincenAlice has been working hard on a solution. We're not quite ready for full release yet but get in touch if you can help us test it!

Question for all - If we want to support local professional repairers what are good review website options? they all seem quite corporate! Any pros / cons?

Quick questions for computer enthusiasts - does pygame work on Trinket or any other code playground?

✨NEW REPORT ✨ Despite their claims to the contrary, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) are now using Tasers more than ever before according to new Home Office data. This data shows the highest use of the weapon in England and Wales on record.

One thing to realise is that its not actually single waves -it is waves inside waves and waves following waves (within a session & session to session) so it can be a bit moot where the start is. You always want students in a position to be packing in their heads not flat-lining.

Oooo we should talk my research is in program design and design patterns (not quite oop view) was indicated from research with lots of expert teachers - dm me and we can discuss !

This resonates with what I've been finding with my research with home ed project-based approach - but I lead with concrete game patterns that they want to implement - see image - I wonder if the "concepts first" principle is better suited to 60 min classroom activities rather...

It doesnt have to-its the shape that matters and it depends on the context. But even with hands on play early it may be worth noting briefly the learning outcome first so you are doing hands on play with a purpose not just play -but why? That might lead to a more cliff edge start.

Part 2 - but we need to do more research with younger learners and different contexts . It makes sense to me - from my teaching activity ... I have delivered fun unplugged activities and later learners recall the fun - but not why they did it... but research needed ;)

Quick question for #CASchat - why lead with concepts (sematic wave) when hands-on play with concrete activities can be more engaging? Why does it matter at what point of the wave you start?

Mick Chesterman reposted

The theory seems be that flat line practical activities don’t build knowledge ... the building is through the connection of concept using technical vocab and no context down to familiar context with non technical vocabulary and then back up again to concept and technical vocab +1
