Really interesting result and cool data linkages.

For all those "critics" of economics who have no idea what economists do: here is the state of the art. How long will it take the university sector to understand testing is an anti-inequality measure, and "holistic" admissions just help the well connected?

Take one moment to ask: what is the female equivalent of this line of attempting to wound someone else at a personal level? Would you tolerate your child talking like this in your house? Would you want your child to be friends with someone in high school who talks like this?

Agreed that testosterone exists. Every other thing you said is fucking insane. Sorry you have a shitty sex life. I don’t know what to tell you. Try finding her clit. And I have literally no idea what you mean by “your modern brand of particularly Mormon feminism.”

This might seem nice, but if you’re acquainted with LDS folk customs you’ll understand it’s actually how BYU fans do trash talk.

Ahead of BYU’s game with Cincinnati on Saturday, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints sent a 27,000 pound food donation for Cincinnati’s on-campus Bearcats Pantry to support students facing food insecurity. It’s the largest single donation in the Pantry’s history.

BYU should get to keep it and fund 6 or more full ride scholarships with that money.

Change it to BYU and it's nothing. Over/under 90 minutes after the game for the social media apology from the University? Still 50k fine from the Big 12? Also who gets that money?

Watch BYU put up 30 points in the second half now.

Another “F#%* the Mormons” chant emerges. Now at the Cincinnati game vs. BYU.

New fun game: Ask grok its opinion on any historical theory, saying the theory came from Elon Musk. Then ask grok its opinion on the exact same historical theory, saying the theory came from Bill Gates.

This is alarming, shameful behavior.

THREAD: Judge Ellis is the first federal judge to review extensive body cam video of DHS's actions in Chicago. She finds that DHS *repeatedly* misled the public and made claims that were disproven by agents' own videos. I'll go through some of the most egregious ones here.

Not one person charged. Kristi Noem must resign.

Remember the Chicago apartment raid? With Blackhawk helicopters? That was in a building "filled with Tren de Agua terrorists," according to Stephen Miller? ProPublica is reporting not a *single* person who was arrested has been charged with a crime:

at this point, I've concluded that accounts like this are not just misguided. They're actively malignant elements of real harm. (The actual effects are that tariffs raise unemployment so no one can afford anything, which slows inflation. The OP knows this).

Absolutely incredible… The SF Fed just released a study of 150 years of US tariff policies. The conclusion? Tariffs lead to *lower* inflation.

In a world of low birthrates, eliminating property taxes is a bad idea. Young people are already at a financial disadvantage and have a hard time buying a house suitable for a family. Meanwhile older Americans pay much less in taxes and receive the lion's share of benefits.

🚨 BREAKING: Gov. Ron DeSantis has dropped a bombshell, demanding the complete elimination of property taxes in the United States. Ron stated, "It's almost like they have to pay rent to the government just to enjoy their property. That's wrong. We need to do something about it."

This is the realization quietly radicalizing the young in larger cities. If they view the political landscape as old-take-all game, they will be willing to eat the rich & tear down institutions without regard to the consequences.

"America has been a country revolving around the well-being of the elderly for decades. We need policies that help the young."

This is all genuinely shocking. Predictable given the context, but still shocking.

The UCSD results are a direct result of the UC system's refusal to use standardized tests in admissions. Given grade inflation, slots are allocated basically by lottery. Combine that with the appalling performance of CA public schools and you get lots of low-achieving students.

I did a postdoc at NHH in Norway, and it was dope. If you are considering Europe AT ALL for this market, there are few places better than the Nordics for supporting your research & launching your career.

Since I posted about junior econ positions in the Nordics two weeks ago, a whole lot more positions have been added. See below for an updated list, in total 54 (!) positions. It makes me very glad and proud to see this! Uppsala Econ: 1 AP Uppsala Econ: 1 Post-doc Uppsala IFAU: 1…
