I'm excited to share the paper we've informally titled the "everything bagel" of transportation policy. A short 🧵 tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10…

The LA gondola opposition gets even more absurd. They convinced the City Council to oppose the project, arguing: 1) trees would be permanently removed 2) a UCLA study showed it wouldn't reduce congestion. Both are just falsehoods the Council fell for.

Pretty amazing to see a judge actually treat speeding and crashing into people as the serious, abhorrent, and entirely preventable crime that it is.

Great reporting on how the city is doubling down on a totally made-up jobs number that they say the mansion tax has created. Oh, sorry - "is creating." The committee tasked with overseeing the funds is... shady.

We built this home in 45 days, faster than LADWP took to connect power. If a utility delays service beyond a month, it should pay the carrying cost of the building it’s holding hostage. The only reason they get away with it is monopoly.

A crazy statistic I read today: LADWP delays are responsible for an AVERAGE OF EIGHT MONTHS of additional construction time for apartment buildings requiring an underground installation

There is so much going on in Los Angeles. We have one of the most corrupt local governments in the country. And yet our paper of record somehow rarely covers anything happening inside City Hall. It's all federal, state & intl politics, plus random LA crime stories. What gives?
