The Saint Martial Chapel at the Palais des Papes, Avignon. Painted in 1345 by a team of painters led by Matteo Giovannetti for Pope Clement VI - the popes had resided there since 1309, but only on a temporary basis to this point. The chapel marks Clement’s decision to stay put.
