This is why DC doesn’t have statehood

Georgia Rep. Jody Hice, arguing against DC statehood at committee, said DC would become the only state without various things, like "without a CAR DEALERSHIP." Leaving aside the nonexistence of car dealerships in the 1700s, DC totally has car dealerships. google.com/search?q=dc+ca…

How many affordable? Unlike a Burger King, a car dealership is full of affordable homes; think of all the homeless living in their cars

Booo dc is becoming a hell hole! Back in the good ole days kids would be able to play in the open “park” space this wonderful car lot provided the commonwealth! As the backbone of the neighborhood this underutilized overgrown asphalt lot enhanced the lives of 5’s of people!

Getting rid of cars and increasing housing in one move I love this

Completely agree with more housing units, but what are avg rent for 1bedroom in this building? Any less than $2,400/month?

Where will the cars live now?

Increased housing for who? Most people in DC can’t even afford all this new housing. All this ends up doing is pushing people out and creating more homelessness because higher rents and no pay increases leaves people literally out here fighting for our lives.

But is it affordable housing??

This project took longer than the confederacy lasted

Nice. What’s it doing to traffic in the area?

But how many parking spots does that apartment building have??

Love the balconies. Wish there were street-level retail, but an obvious improvement.

Lots of tents could have fit on that car lot instead… :P

It was just an open parking lot no car dealership

You love to see it

How long did it take to get the permits?

See 17th and Benning NE right now

Car dealers are becoming urbanisms because of their property holdings.
